MADRID, SPAIN – May 15, 2008 – Sidar Foundation today announced that it has
enhanced its worldwide infrastructure. As part of this enhancement Sidar
Foundation is bringing online dedicated servers with extended capabilities to
satisfy growing bandwidth needs in Spain, Latin American and across the European
Union for its online accessibility review solutions.
The enhanced servers will support all of Sidar Foundation’s applications,
including but not limited to Hera. Hera is an online solution that validates Web
pages for accessibility. Hera is available in Spanish, French, English, German,
Italian and multiple additional languages. As a multi-lingual accessibility test
solution, Hera extends the concepts of accessible Web development across
multiple continents, even to those with little or no knowledge of Web design.
More information about Hera is available at http://www.sidar.org/hera/
Hera was developed by the Sidar Foundation as an education and outreach project,
and is supported entirely by donations and patrons of the Sidar Foundation. The
enhanced infrastructure will also support Sidar Foundation’s application
BookBook along with its other innovative solutions. The new servers and
infrastructure for the Sidar Foundation have been provided as a multi-year
donation from Sidar Foundation’s newly appointed Patron, Robert B. Yonaitis.
Yonaitis will be spearheading fundraising activities for Sidar Foundation in the
Americas.
According to Emmanuelle Gutiérrez y Restrepo, Sidar Foundation's Founder and
Director, “Enhancing Sidar Foundation’s infrastructure will provide a better
experience for users of its educational solutions. The improved platform will
broaden the usability and outreach for the applications as well. Sidar
Foundation’s goal is to expand awareness of the importance of accessibility and
to positively impact the growth of accessible development in Spain, Latin
America and across the rest of the world.”
About Sidar: The Sidar Seminar was formed in 1997, and is a not-for-profit
organization focused on research and activities leading to the development of an
accessible and inclusive Information Society. These activities are supported
through Web and email based discussion lists, seminars and educational
activities, and through the development of accessibility tools. Sidar also
conducts research in emerging technologies. More information about the Sidar
Foundation is available through the Sidar Web site at: http://www.sidar.org
